Welcome to Teesside Cloth Nappy Library

Teesside Cloth Nappy library is a volunteer led organisation who are passionate about helping families in Teesside convert to using cloth nappies and wipes. We hire out nappy and wipes kits for a small fee and provide free advice and help.

As the initial cost of cloth nappies can be high depending on which system you go for, it's usually a good idea to know that the ones you are buying are going to work! Our nappy kits allow you to try different styles and brands of nappies in the comfort of your own home. You will be supplied with everything you need to store, care for and use your nappies on your baby. 

At any point during your loan you can contact our volunteers for any advice and support through the library facebook page. You don't have to be hiring to ask for advice either - our volunteers are available for any free help you need.

How do I hire?

To hire a kit (or to reserve a newborn kit in advance) then please message us on the library facebook page. Kits for hire are kept with our volunteers across Teesside and will usually need to be collected from them. We will go through all the nappies in your kit via an in-person demo on collection and are available for unlimited advice and help during your hire.

Full Kits (Newborn & BTP)

These are available in newborn or birth to potty (BTP) size and will include around 20 nappies, 2 wet bags for storage and a wet bag for use when you’re out and about, additional boosters for increased absorbency, and both disposable and reusable liners. Newborn kits are suitable from approximately 6lbs to 14lbs. BTP kits are suitable from approximately 12lbs to 35lbs (babies should be in at least age 3-6 month clothes).

A full BTP kit can be hired at a fee of £10 for a 8-week hire, with a £25 refundable deposit.

A newborn kit can be hired at a fee of £15 for an 10-week hire starting at two weeks prior to due date, with a £25 refundable deposit. We require £10 of this refundable deposit up front when reserving a newborn kit in advance.

Providing there is no waiting list for the kit, any hire can be extended for a small fee.

Twins – parents of twins may hire two kits simultaneously if there is availability. If not; the library will endeavour to add a number of spare nappies to the single kit hire for a small extra fee.

Reusable Wipes

Depending on availability, a reusable wipes kit (containing 20 wipes of various brands, a fresh wipes box and small wet bag) can be added to any newborn or BTP nappy kit hire for £5 extra.

Premium, night and other kits

The library also has a premium kit available for hire. This is for parents already using cloth nappies but looking to try out different brands. The kit contains 14 or 20 premium nappies of your choice from a list of approximately 30 and is available for £15 for 14 or £20 for 20 for a 4 week hire, with a £25 refundable deposit.

We also have specific night kits (in two sizes) available for £8 for 4 weeks (plus a £25 deposit) and a size 3 kit for children 35lbs + for £10 for weeks (plus a £25 deposit). We now also stock pull-ups kits in two sizes.

If your child is coming towards potty training we also have two potty training kits or training pants for hire for £5 for 4 weeks (plus a £25 deposit)

Regular Nappy Meets/Events

We arrange ups across Teesside and attend local events. All meet ups and events will be advertised on our Facebook page.
